Magda N. Garguláková

I am a graduate in Art History from the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University, Brno. In 2011, my friends and I established the OFF/FORMAT gallery in Brno, which exhibits and promotes contemporary progressive art, mostly by young artists. At the gallery, I work as a curator, as well as performing many tiring but essential, valuable tasks concerning operational and organizational matters and promotion. I worked for a time in marketing, but my love affair with books is a long one. Incessant grumbling on the part of my family notwithstanding, our living space is rapidly filling up with books; for me, this makes the place all the cosier and more stimulating. For the gallery, I have edited and published several art publications, from catalogues of work by promising artists, through books for specialists, to fiction with original illustrations and children’s books that popularize art history. Since 2019, I have added to this experience as an editor of literature for very young readers at B4U Publishing, using my two daughters – a pre-schooler and a first-grader – for quality control.
