Luis San Vicente

Born in Mexico City in March 1970, he is the eldest son of Don Miguel and Doña Pilar. He has been keen on drawing since his childhood, when he would “scratch” notebooks, papers, desks and any surface that would take ink or pencil marks. He studied graphic communication design at UAM.

He worked for almost 20 years as a coordinator in the art department of the Reforma newspaper in Mexico City. He has illustrated more than 70 children’s books for publishers in Mexico, the United States, Spain, Slovakia, Argentina, Croatia, Poland, Colombia and Venezuela.

His work has attracted several national and international awards, highlights of which include: catalogue of illustrations by children and young people (FILIJ, CONACULTA; Mexico; two-time winner), Noma Encouragement Prize (Japan, UNESCO; winner), Latin American Design Meeting (Palermo, Argentina; honourable mention), Purple Island Award at the Nami Concours (South Korea; honourable mention), Ibero-American illustration catalogue (two mentions).

His work has been exhibited in many countries, including Germany, France, Slovakia, Italy, Korea, Spain, Cuba and Mexico.
