Filip Pošivač

Filip Pošivač (1986) is a Czech illustrator, animator, and filmmaker. He graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague and focuses on work that blends illustration and animation. His children’s books, such as Všechno je to na zahradě (Everything Is in the Garden) and Dlouhá noc muzejní myši (The Long Night of the Museum Mouse), are notable for their gentle poetry. His illustrations for the book Kuba Tuba Tatubahn (2015, text by Jana Šrámková) earned him a place on the prestigious IBBY Honour List. Together with Barbora Valecká, he made the film Až po uši v mechu (Up to Your Ears in Moss) and the series Živě z mechu (Live from the Moss). As a director, he is behind the feature-length animated film Tonda, Slávka a kouzelné světlo (Tonda, Slávka and the Magic Light, 2023), which won an award at the Annecy festival. He also illustrated the first complete Czech edition of Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales and Stories (2025), translated directly from Danish, with almost 100 original extensive illustrations. His artistic expression is characterized by detail, subtle colors, and a combination of techniques such as watercolor, collage, fine textures, and handcrafting, creating rich, visually layered, imaginative worlds.
